Dr. Young attended St. Francis Xavier University for her undergraduate studies but before completing her degree she was accepted to Dalhousie University where she subsequently completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree, graduating in May 1982.
Dr. Young then practiced dentistry at the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital for Children in Halifax completing two years as a pediatric intern. During this time Dr. Young made a decision to pursue a Specialty Degree in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor Michigan and jointly undertake a residency program followed by Fellowship program at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Dr. Young completed her M.Sc. in Pediatric Dentistry in Michigan upon completion of her Master’s thesis in 1987.
Dr. Young then returned to Nova Scotia to resume practice at the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital for Children and accept a clinical teaching position at the Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University.
In 1990, Dr. Young left academia to pursue private practice in Windsor, where she resides with her son and has thoroughly enjoyed the practice of pediatric dentistry in the Windsor Essex County community that has become her home.
Dr. Young is an active member of the Canadian Dental Association, Ontario Dental Association, Nova Scotia Dental Association, Essex County Dental Society, Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association.
Dr. Tann grew up locally in Windsor, Ontario and graduated from Sandwich Secondary School. He earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University in 1998 and his Master’s degree in Engineering from Wayne State University in 2000. After a 10 year career in Engineering he was inspired by his mentor at Children’s Hospital in Detroit to pursue his passion of helping others which lead him to a career in Pediatric Dentistry. Since that time he has received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from University of Detroit Mercy in 2012 and his Specialty Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in 2014 from Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Dr. Tann served two additional years at Children’s Hospital in Detroit as clinical instructor to the Pediatric Dental Residency Program. Since 2016, Dr. Tann has been providing dental care for children in the area of Windsor / Essex County, taking over the former practice of Dr. Thomas Oper.
Dr. Tann is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada as a Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry and an active member of both the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Tann resides in LaSalle with his wife Julie and three children. When he is not practicing dentistry, you can find him coaching or cheering on his family at the local hockey arenas and soccer fields.
